1998 GMC SIERRA SLE PLOW TRUCK K2500 5.7, AUTO, 170K mi., BAD MOTOR in New Paltz, New York

?This is a complete 1998 GMC Sierra SLE 5.7 gas v8, auto tranny that ran great till a month ago when while driving @ 60mph the motor starting making a loud noise and some white smoke started to come out. I immediately shut it off and my mechanic said the motor is shot. That is all I know about the motor. Until that happened I drove this maybe 20 miles a day locally for dump runs, yard cleanup and odds and ends, towing the boat to the hudson or plowing my daughter and my driveways 10 times a year. I am the 3rd owner. The frame and body are very solid with very little of the typical rust found on the newer gm trucks.
For sale is 1998 GMC Sierra SLE 5.7 vortec gas, 4spd auto, extended cab, 6.5ft bed 4wd drive plow truck with a BAD motor. It has a meyers ez classic mount 7.5 ft heavy duty plow with the e60 fast high lift pump, lights and a wired remote joystick controller and dash mounted plow light controller, orange roof beacon. Additionally it has a good tow hitch, a light duty folding ladder rack and an additional home made front ladder rack that goes in the plow mounts making it capable of carrying 24 ft. plus scaffold/ ladders.
I bought this truck from a mechanic at the dealer who got it at auction. It started out as a factory special order 2 way radio/plow package for a small nj county dept of public works truck driven around by the boss who was doing very little plowing because they took plow off after the 3rd year and i got it spotless with no exterior plow parts just the plow wiring and then I refit the truck with the rest of the original plow package. It allways drove quiet, straight and smooth and stops straight and fast. I feel spending a $1000 total to get another motor swapped in would have this beast run forever. It has some of the usual quirks with the gm's, ac needs a charge,drivers door could use a new set of hinge pins, inside door handles are a sticking some times.
